Wellbeing, mental health & social inclusion Event

My crazy idea of arranging a Health, Wellbeing & Mental Health Event in 2 weeks has paid off. Wow!

Our Facebook event is really helping & you can find all the latest details here.

Today the banner arrived & I’ve been able to display it on the Main Road in Eckington so people can see it.

My daughter Millie designed the below poster & although it’s been shared all over on social media, I had some printed & they are hopefully appearing at a shop window or notice board near you soon.

Laila, my 8 year old drew her own poster which however difficult it is to read is beautiful & I’m so proud of this being a family event.

The wonderful Friendship Centre have given us their venue for free which is also amazing.

So far along with organisations & charities getting back to me, we have the below confirmed:

S.O.D.I.T – Survivors of Depression in Transit – any donations on the day will be made to them as our chosen charity.

Derbyshire Mind Community Advocacy Services

Whiltshire Farm Foods – meals for vulnerable & elderly adults

Dragon’s Academy

Slimming World

Killamarsh Dreams

St. John’s ambulance

Cake stall

Mick discussing his sobriety from Gambling

Equal Strands Autism & Aspergers Consultant with Heidi & her tortoises

I was so excited today when we had confirmation that the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Magic Magid & our local MP Lee Rowley will also be visiting our event.

We’ve also been sent information from many other charities & organisations that couldn’t attend on the day, including: Luke Burrows organisation, Kickstarter memoir, Sheffield Mind, SOBS, Big life journal for kids, Coding club, Sheffield Flourish

We still have stalls available, but aren’t wanting to duplicate services. We would still like to hear from you if you work within digital, as digital skills & digital inclusion is important for any community, training or recruitment, and also any minority groups. Please email me at sarahcard@sky.com for more information.

In the meantime please share anything from the poster, to the Facebook event, to this blog & try to show what can be done when a few people care about change.

Sarah x
